Matt Gordon is the Chief Executive Officer and founder of E3iG. Mr. Gordon’s career spans business operations, finance and law. Since entering the investment-based visa sector, Mr. Gordon has become a noted expert on legal topics related to investment-based visa organizational structure and visa-investment policy. He is the editor of the leading legal treatise on the EB-5 program, “The EB-5 Book” and is a frequent writer and lecturer. He has also done policy work at Harvard University’s Kennedy School of Government and with the White House. In February 2016, Mr. Gordon testified in front of the House of Representatives Judiciary Committee as a policy expert on EB-5 matters.
Mr. Gordon is a licensed attorney in New York, having practiced mergers and acquisitions law at the beginning of his career with the largest and most reputable Wall Street firms including Fried Frank and Sullivan & Cromwell. Following his legal career, Mr. Gordon ran the US division of a Swiss multi-national corporation, after which he became an investment banking and finance professional.
Mr. Gordon received his B.S. in Policy Analysis from Cornell University and his J.D., cum laude, from the University of Pennsylvania School of Law
Meetesh Patel has nearly two decades of experience as an immigration attorney and business lawyer. He has particular expertise advising start-ups and small businesses on corporate and business law matters such as business formation and structuring, contract drafting, drafting and negotiating technology transfer and licensing agreements, trademark and copyright protection, employment agreements, joint ventures and strategic alliances, and reviewing and drafting private placement documentation for financings, corporate restructurings, mergers and acquisitions and other related matters. Meetesh’s expertise allows him to greatly assist visa-based investment clients in navigating the often complex interplay between US immigration law and business law issues.
He holds a Juris Doctor degree from American University’s Washington College of Law and a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Political Science with an emphasis in International Relations from the University of Maryland College Park. Meetesh is a licensed member of the Maryland State Bar and the District of Columbia Bar.
Rear Admiral Brian McCarthy USN(Ret) has a long and distinguished career both in military and civilian life. Admiral McCarthy served in the United States Navy Reserve for three decades and became one of the military’s most accomplished logistics officers. In his civilian life, Admiral McCarthy developed over $500 million of commercial real estate and operated a variety of businesses, including numerous retail operations.
Admiral McCarthy earned a BS in Engineering Science from Oakland University and an MBA from the Harvard Business School. He is very involved in our community as a past Governor of the Bird Key Yacht Club, First Vice President of the Pops Orchestra, Past President & Executive Director of the Military Officers Association & Foundation in Sarasota and currently the Chairman of United Way’s Mission United initiative serving 88,000 Veterans in our two counties.
Maria Johnson is an accomplished finance executive, with over 20 years of professional experience spanning across various industries and areas of expertise, including Business Strategy, Finance Transformation, FP&A, Accounting & Controls, GAAP, IFRS, Tax, Treasury, Audit & Compliance, Risk Management, and International Business. Throughout her career Ms. Johnson held leadership roles within some of the best in class finance organizations, including Hewlett Packard and PepsiCo, and partnered with several private equity firms in driving value creation through process optimization and finance and organizational transformation of mid-market companies in technology, media and fashion space, most recently as a Global Controller for a leading digital marketing solution provider Cheetah Digital and a Chief Financial Officer for the global omni channel luxury jewelry brand John Hardy.
Ms. Johnson holds an MBA in Finance from the University of Texas at Austin Red McCombs School of Business, an MA in Speech Communications from the Texas State University, and a BA in International Busines from the State Academy of Management. She is a Certified Public Accountant and a Certified Internal Auditor.
